Ancient Secrets on the Art of Bonsai Trees and shrubs Care

As the art of bonsai trees care is widely attributed to allow us in China more than a thousand years ago its true roots lie in antiquity. Archaeologists have found proof trees grown in containers in ancient Egypt, the Middle East and Mediterranean. However it is probably fair to state the Chinese turned the growing of miniature trees in a tiny container in to a true art form that has been then, sometime in the eighth century AD, embraced by Japan, spreading from there to countries such as for instance Vietnam and Thailand.

Mount Vernon trees  One of the bonsai legends from China concerns an emperor who used bonsais to create a miniature type of his entire kingdom, filled with rivers, lakes, hills and trees, so he could view the planet he ruled over from his palace window. He'd, of course, experienced servants did all of the bonsai trees look after him - and woe betide them if they will die.

The Japanese have, in the centuries since, refined the growing and look after bonsai trees and it's now become a hobby practiced widely through the world. The term bonsai is itself Japanese. It is actually two words - bon, meaning tray and sai meaning growing.

Many bonsai growers use wire to help twist their tree's trunk into gnarled and windswept shapes, sometimes providing them with the appearance of dragons or birds. The shape speaks of tranquility, endurance and a timelessness that evokes a mental response.

The tree, despite being miniaturized, behaves like its full grown relatives and experiences the rhythm of the growing season, losing its leaves in winter and, if it is a flowering shrub, producing buds in spring. As the creator, and those tasked with the bonsai trees care, this provides a rewarding sense of creativity and hopefully inner peace.

When making a bonsai, nearly every woody stemmed tree or shrub could be used. Firstly you have to decide whether you want your bonsai tree inside or outside. Outside trees don't thrive inside and generally exactly the same goes for inside trees placed outdoors. Two trees often recommended for novices will be the Japanese red maple and the juniper. You are able to of course choose in the first place seeds, however they do take a bit more time and effort.
